39th week...

Gynae says Girl-girl's head is not yet engaged. *phew (again)*
Girl-girl weighs 3kg now, heart rate at 155/min. All is good. I just got to monitor her movements and any signs of contractions or tightening of the uterus.

Oh! We saw Girl-girl yawning during the scan just now! Very clear and obvious! SOOOOOOOO CUTE! :)

Praying that she will stay in my tummy for at least another 10 days!! :)

S.E.A. Aquarium @ RWS

Our final outing before Girl-girl arrives. How many preggies are gungho enough to do this? 38 weeks pregnant, squeezing in with the massive MASSIVE crowd on a public holiday to visit the fishes? ;)

We arrived at Vivocity at 1110am to take the Sentosa Express. And to my shock, the queue for Sentosa Express started from Level 2! So we queued. Halfway through queuing, one of the staff saw that I was pregnant and offered the priority queue. So we managed to board the Sentosa Express in 20min! :)

When we arrived at RWS, we were shocked (again) that the queue was so sO SO longggggggggggggggggggg that we couldn't even see where was the starting point. We overheard that the queuing time into the Maritime Experiential Museum was an estimate of 2 hours. (!!!!) So hubby had an idea. We went to priority queue for RWS guests and members, and with a smile on our faces, asked if we could join this queue. The staff, upon seeing that I am pregnant, said, "Actually this is for RWS members, but for you, I will allow, because you are pregnant." (YAY!)

So after queuing for 20+min, we made it into the Maritime Experiential Museum building. (Not yet S.E.A Aquarium ok). We then presented our entry tickets only to find out that I bought the wrong date and the tickets had expired. (I bought 23 May instead of 24 May). SUPER DISMAYED. We went to the guest service counter and the staff was nice enough to replace our tickets. She also told us that the waiting time to go into S.E.A Aquarium was about 2 hours. That gave us a shock again. So hubby decided to use the same tactic again - join the priority queue. But this time round, the staff told us that I could sit down and wait while hubby queues for me. (Uh-oh, tactic failed.) So we walked to the entrance where the seats were. Then, we decided to be gangster - try again.
Hubby: Hi, can you let us join the priority queue since she is pregnant?
Staff: Erm... Ok can. You can join this queue.
(YAY!)

So we finally finally got into S.E.A Aquarium at around 1230pm. All thanks to Girl-girl in my tummy! ;p

We spent near to 2 hours inside the aquarium, and saw many fishes, many of which I cannot remember their names at all. I shall let the pictures do the talking for now.

2 more weeks...

A few quick updates and thanksgiving:

#1. Girl-girl weighs 2.9kg at 38 weeks, a whooping increase of 700g in 1 week! She looks fleshier in this scan, as compared to the one a week ago.
Gynae says her head is not engaged yet, which means she won't be arriving this week. *phew*
Actually, we have been counting down with her everyday. We will tell her the date for that day, how many more days left before she will be born, and that she must continue to be active inside my tummy, so that we know that she is healthy and well.

#2. My mother-in-law went to Malaysia to visit her sisters over the weekend, and see what she had brought back!
1 whole luggage of Goo.n diapers samples, courtesy of her sister! According to hubby, his aunt sells diapers in Malaysia, so she gave these samples to us. We did a count - 57 packets, each packet has 2 pieces, so that's a total of 114 diapers, ranging from newborn to L size. And Goo.n is a good brand from Japan. 真是谢谢阿姨的厚爱!

#3. I am really really thankful to God and people around who have blessed Girl-girl thus far. We have gotten many free things (be it new or hand-me-downs) from many people. Let's take a look:
- many many many clothes, cot bumper sets, toys, breast milk containers, swaddles etc etc from my bro and sis-in-law.
- Diaper samples from aunt-in-law.
- Baby car seat from our G12 leaders.
- New clothes and hand-sewn mattress cover sets from mother-in-law.
- Clothes from Australia from hubby's bro and sis-in-law.
- Milk powder, bibs and what-nots from parenting seminars and talks.
- Bird's nest from cousin.
- Mum for cooking bird's nest almost every weekend.
We had gotten a clothes drawer and baby cot from our pastors and church friends originally too, but we made a serious mistake by painting them with a smelly paint (that was recommended by the paint shop - and that made me really upset. Aren't they supposed to know better what paint to recommend??). In the end, we had to discard these 2 items and purchase new ones. Sigh! Wasted efforts and felt apologetic to our kind friends.

We also had some good bargains while buying some stuff:
- Algo storage boxes as clothes drawers, washing detergents and bottom balm etc. Fairprice was having 20% discount on many many items that week. We were unaware until we looked at the receipt after payment. Nice surprise!
- Baby stroller at one of the major baby fairs. (Read here if you have missed it earlier).
- Korean play mat at Baby Spa. Hubby redeemed a $100 Baby Spa voucher from the NS45 (or don't know what you call it lah), and we only needed to top up $40 (the play mat was $140) to get a nice big play mat.
- Cheap clothes at baby fairs, neighbourhood shops, overseas , and many good buys from Qoo10 and motherhood forums.

#4. Also thankful for the concern and understanding and grace shown by colleagues and friends around. I am not able to count them one by one, but I know that at the point in time, I was really thankful for their love.

Till the next update! :)

Just 4 weeks left...

Girl-girl weighs 2.2kg now, a gain of 200g since 2 weeks ago. It's a good weight, not too heavy, not too light. Gynae says if she doesn't put on too much weight suddenly, her estimated weight at birth will be around 3kg.
Gynae took a good ultra-sound scan that day, and finally one that I can understand and make sense of. Let's take a look.
Isn't she just so cute??? So cute so cute so cute!! Can't wait to see her in real life! :)

But having said that, and as much as I am excited, I'm also scared at the same time. Because I am S-U-P-E-R D-U-P-E-R scared of pain! T_T. Yes, I am going for epidural, but it will still be painful. I really pray for strength and endurance for child birth!
I'm also worried because I know life will never be the same again. There may be more arguments at home due to differences in opinions, the ways we want to raise the child, the 'old wives tales vs new age thinking', the old vs the young etc. May the Lord teach me patience & understanding, patience & understanding, and more patience & understanding.

Some food that I really miss.....

  • Soft-boiled eggs and sunny side-ups. (Yakun & Toast Box.. I really miss you so.....)
  • Coffee. Now I drink just once or twice a week because of the caffeine content. I really wish for my daily Kopi-C kosong.
  • Alcohol. I will attack the Hoegarden & Erdinger at home first.
  • Salad bar at Earle Swensen's!
  • Soft-serve ice cream and yogurt from yogurt bars. I have avoided these because the machine nozzle (or whatever you call that thing) is supposedly not so hygienic, so I could be taking in bacteria which could harm the baby.
  • Sushi. I will eat some of the cooked ones occasionally, but ultimately, you can't be too sure about how they handle both raw and cooked sushi at that same counter. So I try not to eat during pregnancy.
I promise I will attack attack attack after giving birth!!!!
